Pre-Course Theory:
📖 Spearfishing & Freediving Knowledge

- Freediving physiology and breath-hold techniques for spearfishing
- Understanding fish behaviour, legal catch sizes, and bag limits
- Safety, buddying, and risk management
- Equipment setup, gun handling, and maintenance
- Gear & Safety Briefing: Introduction to spearfishing equipment, gun safety, and best practices
- Freediving Techniques for Spearfishing: Breath-hold tips, relaxation techniques, and duck diving
- Speargun Handling & Accuracy Training: Proper loading, aiming, and target practice on stationary targets
- Stealth & Fish Approach Tactics: How to move efficiently underwater and get close to fish without spooking them
- Buddy Diving & Rescue Techniques: Essential safety protocols for ethical spearfishing
Afternoon Session: Real-World Spearfishing & Catch Handling
- Hunting & Coaching: One-on-one guidance while practicing real spearfishing techniques
- Reading the Environment: Identifying fish species, understanding legal catch sizes, and choosing sustainable targets
- Shot Placement & Ethical Dispatching: Ensuring a humane and responsible catch
- Fish Handling & Processing: Scaling, gutting, filleting, and proper storage to maintain freshness
- Final Dive & Debrief: Wrap-up session with tips for improving your skills and responsible spearfishing practices
Prerequisites:
✔ Ability to swim at least 200m unassisted (any stroke, no time limit)
✔ Prior snorkeling, freediving, or spearfishing experience is advantageous
✔ Highly recommended: Completion of a Beginner Freediver / Molchanovs Wave 1 certification (or equivalent) for better breath-hold efficiency, relaxation, and safety
